1. Who We Are

Makelaar in Amsterdam B.V. is responsible for the processing of personal data as described in this statement.

2. What Data We Process

Depending on how you contact us, we process some of the following information:

• Name, address, phone number, and email address
• Information about the property for which you are engaging our services (for example, for a sale, purchase, or rental)
• Financial information required to carry out the contract, such as in the case of a purchase agreement
• Messages you send us via email, WhatsApp, phone, or a contact form

We process a citizen service number (BSN) only when required by law, such as when transferring ownership of a home at a notary’s office.

3. Why We Process This Data

We use your information to provide our services: assisting with the purchase, sale, or rental of a home; scheduling appointments and showings; and answering your questions. If you request a property valuation or an introductory meeting, we’ll use your information to respond to your request. We will only use your email address for a newsletter or other promotional messages with your explicit consent; you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. How Long We Retain Data

We do not retain your data any longer than is necessary for the purpose for which we collected it. We retain data from a completed transaction (such as a purchase or sale file) for as long as required by law, including the 7-year tax retention requirement for our records. In general, we do not retain data from an inquiry that does not result in an assignment for longer than 2 years.

5. Sharing with Third Parties

We never sell your information to third parties. We only share information with a third party when it is necessary to fulfill our agreement with you (for example, with a notary, appraiser, or the company behind Funda), or when we are legally required to do so.

6. Cookies

This website does not currently use cookies or similar technologies to track your browsing behavior, and does not place any advertising or analytics cookies. We do, however, load fonts externally from Google Fonts; in doing so, your IP address is briefly shared with Google in order to deliver the font, but we do not use it to track you.

If we begin using analytical or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this statement and request your consent in advance via a cookie notice.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You may also object to the processing of your data and request that we transfer your data to you. Please send your request to info@makelaarinamsterdam.nl; we will respond within four weeks.

If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

8. Changes

We may update this privacy statement, for example, in the event of a change in our services or in the law. The date at the top of this page indicates when the statement was last updated.
