Privacy and cookie statement

1. Who we are

Makelaar in Amsterdam B.V. is responsible for processing personal data as described in this statement.

2. What data we process

Depending on how you get in touch with us, we process some of the following data:

• Name, address, phone number and email address
• Details of the home for which you engage us (for example when selling, buying or renting out)
• Financial details needed to carry out the assignment, such as for a purchase agreement
• Messages you send us by email, WhatsApp, phone or a contact form

We only process a citizen service number (BSN) when this is required by law, for example for the transfer of a home at the civil-law notary.

3. Why we process this data

We use your data to provide our services: guiding the purchase, sale or letting of a home, scheduling appointments and viewings, and answering your questions. If you request a market valuation or an introduction, we use your data to respond to it. Only with your explicit consent do we use your email address for a newsletter or other promotional message; you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. How long we keep data

We do not keep your data longer than necessary for the purpose for which we collected it. Data from a completed assignment (such as a purchase or sale file) is kept as long as the law requires, including the 7-year tax retention obligation for our records. Data from a request that does not lead to an assignment is in principle kept for no longer than 2 years.

5. Sharing with third parties

We never sell your data to third parties. We only share data with a third party when this is necessary to carry out our agreement with you (for example with a civil-law notary, an appraiser or the company behind funda), or when we are legally required to do so.

6. Cookies

This website currently does not use cookies or similar techniques to track your browsing behaviour, and does not place advertising or analytics cookies. We do load fonts externally from Google Fonts; in doing so your IP address is briefly shared with Google so the font can be delivered, without us using it to track you.

If we start using analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this statement and ask for your consent in advance through a cookie notice.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or have it deleted. You can also object to the processing of your data and ask us to transfer your data. Send your request to info@makelaarinamsterdam.nl; we respond within four weeks.

Do you disagree with how we handle your data? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

8. Changes

We may change this privacy statement, for example when our services or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows when the statement was last updated.
